This indicator shows the percent of infants who were immunized with the 4 DTaP, 3 Polio, 1 MMR, 3 Haemophilus influenzae type b, and 3 Hepatitis B vaccines (the 4:3:1:3:3 series) by 24 months of age.
Why is this important?
Timely immunizations protect children from contracting and spreading communicable diseases such as measles, mumps, and whooping cough. These diseases can result in extended school absences, hospitalizations, and death. Childhood illnesses also have a significant financial impact on parents including costly medical bills and loss of work time. The immunization schedule changes frequently.
