La Casa de las Madres

La Casa de las Madres (LCM) helps victims of domestic violence in San Francisco, CA by providing various services, such as crisis services, support services, training, and outreach and education. Crisis services include: crisis lines for teens and adults, an emergency shelter, legal assistance, and a partnership with the police that ensures continued police assistance. Support services are designed to help victims explore their strengths and reclaim their lives. For example, LCM offers a permanent housing program and a teen program to help younger victims of domestic violence.

LCM also trains domestic violence counselors, law enforcement, supervised visitation providers, and safe housing providers. And finally, LCM provides community outreach and education in order to increase public awareness of domestic violence.

The mission of La Casa de las Madres is to help victims of domestic violence.

In 2010, La Casa de las Madres responded to 4,381 calls statewide and 904 domestic violence victims accepted the crisis intervention or follow-up assistance provided by La Casa's Domestic Violence Response Team. In addition, 228 women and 194 children found refuge and support in the emergency shelter.

In 2010, 2,089 women, teens, and children participated in direct, in-person support services. This represents an increase of 92% over 5 years.

In the 2012-2013 fiscal year, La Casa de las Madres responded to 5,245 calls and 947 domestic violence victims accepted the crisis intervention or follow-up assistance provided by La Casa's Domestic Violence Response Team. In addition, 360 women and children found refuge and support in the emergency shelter. This fiscal year, 2,082 women, teens, and children participated in direct, in-person support services.
