Adult Day Care Spending-to-Income Ratio

Select a Census Tract
Measurement Period: 2024
This indicator shows the ratio between the average spending among households that spent on adult day care services and the median household income in the selected location. This includes adult day care centers and care for an infirm person in one's home or someone else's home. This indicator excludes care provided in nursing homes.

Why is this important?

Aging increases the risk of chronic conditions, disease, and disability. Older adults may require support including assistance with medications, personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, transportation, and social support. A high spending-to-income ratio for elder care services can present a substantial financial hardship, especially for households with lower incomes (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, American Society on Aging).
